How to Play
Play NowQueens is a game of pure combinatorial deduction. No math, no guessing, no arithmetic—just crystal-clear logical deductions. Your mission is to place N Queens onto an N×N board satisfying every rule simultaneously.
01.The Core Objective
On an N×N grid (e.g. 8×8), you must place exactly N Queens on the board. The board is divided into rows, columns, and uniquely colored territories called Regions.
02.The 4 Fundamental Rules
1 Queen per Row
Every horizontal row must contain exactly one Queen. Having 0 Queens or 2+ Queens in any row is invalid.
1 Queen per Column
Every vertical column must contain exactly one Queen. Having 0 Queens or 2+ Queens in any column is invalid.
1 Queen per Color Region
The board is split into colored zones. Every distinct colored territory must hold exactly one Queen.
No Queens Can Touch
Two Queens can NEVER touch each other horizontally, vertically, OR diagonally! All 8 adjacent neighbor squares are strictly prohibited.
Placing a Queen immediately blocks all 8 surrounding cells with an X.
1 per row, 1 per col, 1 per color region, and 0 touching Queens!
03.Controls & Interactions
Places an X marker on an empty cell to eliminate it from consideration.
Places a Queen crown. With Auto-X turned on, surrounding cells auto-fill with X.
Hold down and drag across multiple cells to paint rapid X markers across an entire line in seconds.
04.Master Deduction Strategies
Single-Cell Regions (Instant Placements)
Look across the board for any color region made of just 1 square. That square must contain a Queen! Drop it right away, and immediately cross out its entire row, column, and all 8 surrounding neighbor squares.
Region Bottlenecks & Row/Column Alignment
If all the remaining empty squares of a particular color region fall entirely within a single row or column, that row/column’s Queen is guaranteed to be in that region. You can safely eliminate every other cell in that row or column outside that region!
Corner Adjacency & 2×2 Block Squeeze
When a color territory forms a 2×2 square or sits in a corner, any Queen placed in one square blocks almost all its diagonal neighbors. Look for spots where placing a Queen would wipe out all possibilities in an adjacent color region.
Last Remaining Square (Pigeonhole)
Constantly scan rows and columns. If you have crossed out every cell in a column except one, that remaining cell must be a Queen, regardless of region shape.
